It is not without reason that Castor Oil is also know by these nicknames: “Palm of Christ” or “Miracle oil”, mainly due to the belief that the oil is healing (just like Jesus Christ).
Castor Oil can be applied neat (with no other ingredient/s added), especially when there is inflammation present. Castor oil is calming, penetrating deep into the skin to aid in whatever is ailing.
Product details and benefits: Castor Bean Oil is Antifungal, Antimicrobial, Anti-inflammatory, Antioxidant, Antiviral & Antioxidant. Castor oil is naturally high in Vitamin E and Ricin-Oleic Acid (a monosaturated fatty acid) which is known to help in wound healing (anti-inflammatory). It is also a natural humectant and anti-ageing, as it draws and attracts moisture from the air into the skin, keeping your skin and scalp hydrated. Castor oil is also known to improve hair growth; this belief is mainly due to the fact that the antifungal, anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties can improve follicle health and therefore it may increase hair growth. As a scalp massage oil, it relieves itchiness, dry scalp (including dandruff) and improves the hydration level, therefore also calming the over productive sebum (oil) glands that causes hair to appear oily.
Directions for use: There are many more uses for neat Castor oil than listed below, so feel free to explore and digress in how you apply this ‘wonder’ oil. I also encourage you to explore the world of poultices.
Skin: Dry, itchy or irritated skin (including eczema): Use a few squirts and massage into the skin as needed. It can also be used as an extra layer to your daily skincare routine, especially when the skin is dry, tired or just need a vitality boost.
Hair & Scalp health: Use a few squirts and massage into the scalp with your fingertips in circular motion and then pull it through your hair adding more oil as needed. This can be used like a hair and scalp mask which is washed out after a few hours or overnight or use it as a leave in treatment (this really depends on hair type and personal preference). Remember: healthy scalp and follicles equals longer and stronger hair in the long run.
Menstrual cramps, stomach or bowel discomfort, and bloating: Use a few squirts and massage into the abdomen, cover with a natural cloth (100% cotton is good; TIP: use old, clean sheets/pillowcases) and a piece of cling wrap/or other waterproof patch (to avoid the oil seeping into clothing). Secure with medical tape if necessary (sometimes wearing a singlet and firm fitted underwear will secure the fabric and plastic without the need for medical tape). Leave this poultice on for as long as can be tolerated, up to 12 hours, then repeat after a rest period of a few hours until the symptoms subside.
Bellybutton discomfort or yeast infection: Use a squirt of oil and apply into the belly button (careful not to poke or agitate the belly button). Cover with a small natural cloth (100% cotton is good; TIP: use old, clean sheets/pillowcases) and a piece of cling wrap/or other waterproof patch (to avoid the oil seeping into clothing).
Eye health:
Styes: Add a little Castor Oil on a cotton bud and gently apply onto the stye (or close to it on the eye lid). Repeat this 3x a day until resolved.
Red, dry, irritated, itchy or tired eyes : Add a drop of Castor oil into the inside corner of the eye. Repeat if necessary.
Degenerating eyes (needing eyeglasses or stronger lenses than before): Add a drop of Castor oil into the inside corner of the eye 2x daily until improvement is evident. For maintenance use 1x daily.
Cataracts & other eye disorders: Add a drop of Castor oil into the inside corner of the eye 2x daily for up to 3 weeks, stop for 10 days and repeat.
Thyroid health (balancing): Use a squirt of castor oil and pat onto the neck area where the thyroid gland is situated (usually just below the ‘Adam’s Apple). In case of a goitre, also apply castor oil on that area. This can be done open as an ointment or covered as a poultice.
Ingredients: We always use organic certified and organically grown ingredient where possible, with no synthetic color, synthetic fragrance or harmful chemicals.

We used the Castor oil for our Baby's cradle cap and we were so surprised when it visibly reduced it after only 2 uses! Before using the castor oil we tried scraping the cradle cap off but this felt too abrasive and was not very effective.. The results after simply massaging this onto her head without scraping or picking is almost too good to be true, the cradle cap area has halved in size and its not as flaky and dry anymore.
